Have You Seen This Weird Thing in Advertising Lately?

These interesting looking icons are “QR” Codes. QR is short for Quick Response. This technology is definitely not new, but it is becoming more popular in the United States as smart phones take over the marketplace. This two-dimensional code, made up of squares and patterns, is a shortcut that can be read through your phone’s camera once you have downloaded the software. In fact, the next generation iPhone will come equipped with the QR reader program already installed. As you hold your phone over the code, your camera will read the code and automatically take you to a website or webpage, launch a video, play music or a game. The Barcode News recently released statistics that show a 4,549% growth in…

In the expansive world that is the Internet, the ultimate goal is to get noticed and look good when you do. Getting noticed, of course, is of the upmost importance and SEO is a key factor in this, but at what point should we allow a site’s SEO to start to limit its presentation and design? Well, if approached properly, you should be able to fulfill the vision for your site’s look while still getting plenty of attention and results. The key here is to understand the buyer. Understanding your buyer will greatly benefit you in reaching them. Who are they? How do they use the Internet? What sites do they visit for information? And most importantly, how do they…

What is the future of Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?

By developer Posted in - SEO on May 9th, 2011

A mistake was made long ago when someone decided that the skill-sets used to generate website traffic should be named, “Search Engine Optimization.” That shortsighted, naïve individual failed to consider the numerous elements that play an important role in the traffic-building process. Even the term “traffic-building” is a misnomer. Few website owners would be satisfied with huge increases in website traffic. That, alone, has little value beyond bragging rights (My website had 15 million visitors last year!). When the sales manager encouraged his sales team to make more calls each day, one man took it to heart. Bedraggled and worn to a frazzle, he stood tall and thrust his chest out as he reported on Friday afternoon that he had…

The Pros and Cons of Using Joomla!®

By developer Posted in - Web on April 25th, 2011

Between HTML, ASP, .NET, PHP and all the other languages we’ve used to create websites, we can certainly create a content management system from scratch. But with the pressure of today’s deadlines and workloads, who has the time? When a client wants a system that they can edit themselves, looks professional or is primarily data-driven, you’ll want to choose a content management system (CMS) like Joomla!® to run the website. It’s faster to build, more reliable in code and can be updated by anyone who has a little time and the desire to learn the basics. One of my favorite things about Joomla!® is that making changes to an existing page is considerably faster. You just log in to the…

It’s Easy to Forget the Little ThingsIt is easy to forget the little things. When you are part of a large organization and have multiple clients sometimes things can fall through the cracks. For example, your website and your Facebook may remain up to date, but those aren’t the only places where potential customers can find you online. There are numerous online resource sites that show local and national business listings. Many of those sites post business information without actually contacting the company. It is then your job to go online, find those sites and check your company’s profile. Are you listed? If so, is the contact information correct? Are your company’s services correctly explained? For some sites it is simply a…

Do Not Get Overwhelmed

By Alexis Posted in - SEO on January 21st, 2011

Simplifying the Web World Your website is now live. Don’t just sit there waiting for people to come and visit it. There are too many websites out there already. Your website will not be suddenly overwhelmed with visitors. Building traffic is a slow process. Only those who patiently work to make their websites successful will reap real benefits. There are only three sources of website visitors: Direct Traffic – Those who type your web address into the browser address bar and click. Search Engines – Responding to a query, search engines deliver results that are relevant. If your website appears close to the top of the list, and if the title and description are intelligible, there is a possibility that the searcher…
